WOW what a brilliant week Liverpool Music Week was! Definitely one where much coffee was needed quite a few times a day to help us through the designing, printing, cutting, selling and actually seeing some of the bands playing! But it was all worth it mainly because the music festival was kicked off in the shape of a rather big glittery disco ball by the amazing CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers at the ECHO arena and we were there!!! We had no idea what to expect from the disco legends and were blown away by their electric energy and ability to get everyone up from their seats to dance! They were fantastic and the official poster for the performance by the talented Horse Graphic Design portrays this beautifully!
(Official CHIC merchandise by Gary McGarvey/Horse Graphic Design).
We were also asked to do a few official gig posters for some of the bands who played as part of the festival; Lost Horizons/Bella Union, The Orielles and Everything Everything. And so these are the final results:
All three bands were brilliant and the closing party at the Invisible Wind Factory was a great night with Everything Everything headlining. We even got the chance to go backstage afterwards and meet the guys from Everything Everything and get one of the posters signed; always a huge bonus!
All in all, Liverpool Music Week was a very tiring few days (what’s sleep?) but also really fun and we got to see a few other bands play throughout the week as well. After all there’s not many people who can say they design posters for some of their favourite bands, get to watch them perform and on the odd occasion, meet them, so we definitely consider ourselves lucky in that respect.
So, make sure you grab your tickets for next year’s Liverpool Music Week when they get released ‘coz if this year was anything to go by then you’ll be in for a treat!
