The National Festival of Making

Did you guys see the hype surrounding this festival?  We couldn’t wait to be a part of The National Festival of Making up in Blackburn!  Before we left to drive up on the Saturday morning we were watching the BBC Breakfast News coverage of it so obviously we were excited!

The craft fair, just one part of the festival, was located in the grand Edwardian King George’s Hall in the centre of Blackburn.  A beautiful interior.

We really enjoyed this event as it felt very much like everyone was part of a big ‘makers’ community and we didn’t go hungry what will all the wonderful homemade food on offer!

Big shout out to one of our neighbours; Aliyah Hussain (Instagram page @ahussain.jewellery) who won the Crafts Council award ‘Ones to Watch’.  She makes beautiful jewellery using ceramic and the shapes and colours are fabulous!  Go and see for yourself: http://www.ahussainjewellery.co.uk/  I even had to buy a necklace for myself!

A huge thanks to all who came by and said hi and of course to those who bought from us!

Thanks for a great weekend Blackburn!
